Are we products of our environment or products of our expectations? The Aftermath of "The Other Wes Moore.”

The question “Are we products of our environment or products of our expectations?” is very deep to understand in the first place. According to me, the explanation of the question is very poetic. People change with time and perceive their point of view toward the world, and the point of view they carry for the rest of their lives is directly affected by what their consciousness chooses. Either it’s the environment that they’ve been around, their peers, their family consequences; or their expectations, expectations with self, and expectations they carry with them. According to me, both of these can be looked at positively and negatively and the way one looks at it decides their fate in life.      Environment - a setting that heavily impacts the way you lead your life, especially after puberty. I come from India, and I’ve always been taught to be around people who are calm and focused even though I was the exact opposite of it. Now I understand that...

Power of music in shaping of life.

With its endless energy, music acts as a medium of communication that unites people from all backgrounds. Wes Moore's love of music is shown in "The Other Wes Moore; One Name, Two Fates" to be more than just a passing fancy; rather, it serves as a vital lifeline that helps him get through the difficulties of his turbulent life. For Wes, music becomes more than just a way to escape the brutal reality of poverty and crime; in his early years growing up in the Bronx, it becomes an essential survival mechanism. Well-known musicians like Nas, Tupac, and BIGGIE. serve as beacons of hope, providing consolation and inspiration when needed. Wes feels purposeful and linked to them through their music, which reassures him that he is not alone in his challenges. Through all of life's highs and ...

What advice do you give your siblings based on your mistakes in life?

Wes and Tony have a complicated relationship that is based on their divergent life experiences and decisions as well as their shared feelings of caring and worry. The older brother, Tony, has probably experienced his fair share of misfortunes and has even taken a few wrong turns. But such experiences have made him a person who loves education and is all too aware of the dangers of living on the streets. But Wes can be more drawn to the attraction of the streets because he hasn't completely understood the repercussions, because he's still influenced by his peers, or because he wants to make quick money. Tony is genuinely concerned when he tells Wes to stop sleeping on the streets and take his studies seriously. He doesn't want his younger brother to make the same errors that he or others have unintentionally made. Tony has personal experience with the ease with which one might succumb to the lures of the streets, including the pressure to fit in, the attraction of quick mo...
